Back in August of 2018 all team members sent in their applications for different job roles within the Young Enterprise team. After a lengthy process of decisions the team was eventually put together. We quickly began brainstorming product ideas such as a glow in the dark dog collar, biodegradable glitter, an app that helps you find your glasses, energy chewing gum and much more.
However, we eventually came up with the idea of a bean bag manufactured completely out of sustainable and environmentally friendly materials. Furthermore, extensive market research found a gap in the market for small, handheld bean bags. Thus, the "BabyBean" was born.
We immediately started contacting local fabric companies and plastic suppliers and after an initial investment that gave us a start up capital of £440 we had all the materials needed to create the first prototype within a month.
When we had successfully developed the "BabyBean" by a local seamstress we began work on the trade stand and digital presence.
Finally, the final product had been made and was ready to sell
On March 27th 2019, the GreenBean Team travelled to Chester University for the "Cheshire and Warrington Young Enterprise Finals". After a hard fought battle against some good competitors GreenBean came out on top and took home "Company of the Year Cheshire and Warrington 2019".
As a result, GreenBean moved on to the "North West Young Enterprise Finals" held at Lancaster University on May 8th. Again, GreenBean came up against previous winners from all over the North West but managed to, for the second time, come out on top as "Company of the Year North West".
Now we travel to London on the 17th and 18th of June for the "National UK Young Enterprise Finals". Make sure to follow our social pages to keep up to date and wish us luck!
